Recipient Guide
What to expect as a recipient and how you'll receive assets if a transfer occurs.
Someone designated you as the recipient of their Ante vault. If they become unable to manage their crypto, those assets will be transferred to you.
Right now? Nothing to do. You'll be notified if a transfer ever happens.
What You Need
Added by email? Just sign in when the time comes - a wallet is created for you.
Added by wallet address? Make sure you still control that wallet.
If added by email, a wallet is created for you automatically - no setup required. You don't need crypto experience.
Want your own wallet instead? Apps like Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, or Rainbow are popular options. But this is optional.
How It Works
The owner checks in every ~90 days. As long as they check in, nothing happens.
If they stop checking in:
- Guardians notified - trusted people chosen by the owner
- Guardians vote - multiple must agree to start transfer
- Grace period - owner has up to 6 months to cancel (configurable)
- Transfer - only after all safeguards, assets sent to you
When a Transfer Happens
Notification
You're notified that a transfer has been initiated.
Grace period
Up to 6 months (configurable) where the owner can still cancel.
Transfer
Assets sent to your wallet automatically.
Arrive
Assets are now yours to manage.
After Receiving Assets
You have full control. Hold them as investments, transfer to other wallets, or convert to cash via an exchange like Coinbase.
If unfamiliar with crypto: don't rush decisions, consult a financial advisor, learn about what you received.
Common Questions
Do I need to do anything now?
No. Just ensure you can access your email or wallet. You'll be notified if anything changes.
Can I see what's in the vault?
No. Only that you're named as recipient. Owner's balance is private.
Lost wallet access?
Contact the vault owner. They can update your recipient address anytime.
Taxes?
Possibly - depends on jurisdiction. Consult a tax professional.
